About Ms. Kimberly 

Kimberly was born and raised in Medina, Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio. While at Heidelberg, she had the opportunity to study opera in Italy and toured Germany during her summers. After graduating Heidelberg, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts and received her Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. Kimberly remained on the East Coast for several years. She worked in non-profit fundraising and management during the day and sang opera by night. Ms. States has performed on many illustrious stages including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. Favorite musical theatre roles; Lily (Secret Garden), Cinderella (Into the Woods), Jenny (Three-penny Opera), Tuptim (King and I). Favorite opera roles; Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Countess and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Pamina (Magic Flute), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutte), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Euridice (Orfeo ed Euridice), Agnes McIntyre (Baby Shower), Madame Euterprova (Help, Help the Globolinks). In addition to theatrical works, Ms. States has also sung as a soloist with numerous orchestras throughout the United States. Favorite concert work includes; Dona nobis pacem (Vaughan Williams), Elijah (Mendelssohn), Messiah (Handel), Requiem (Brahms and Mozart). 

After several successful performance seasons, Kimberly decided to return home to good old Medina to share her knowledge and love of music with the next generation. Kimberly has had the pleasure of serving on the faculty of Ashland University and the College of Wooster. She now devotes her time to her own vocal studio and serving as Artistic Director for Buckeye Community Theatre.

Kimberly opened KS Vocal Studio in 2017 and now teaches over 60 private students at her Medina Square location. 


Music has always been the center of her life. She is honored to have the privilege of sharing this passion for music with young and old alike.
